Hello everyone, it's Jack (better known as @watches.md.de on Instagram). I'm incredibly excited to now be writing for Timepiece Archaeology, so I figured that my first story should be a photo report of a trip I recently took.
As some of you know, I am an avid outdoorsman in addition to being a watch enthusiast and as such, I spent the weekend a few weeks back in Virginia's beautiful Shenandoah National Park. With a group of friends, I hiked two of Shenandoah's most picturesque and quintessential trails: Old Rag and the White Oak Canyon trail.
Where do watches tie into this you may ask? Well, building upon Andrew's "SKX Week On The Wrist Report", I decided to wear my SKX (a 009 as opposed to Andrew's 007) for the entire weekend and document how it did.
If you are reading this article, the Seiko SKX likely needs no introduction. A watch like the Seiko SKX has a legacy of always being a reliable beater that can take anything that anyone is likely to throw at it gracefully and with a good degree of original style and design. My experience with my SKX has, of course, been no different. Both the SKX and its stock Jubilee bracelet performed wonderfully throughout the weekend in all sorts of weather and conditions.
I hope you enjoy the photos I took both on the trail in scenic locations and I some of the more mundane moments of the trip, like before dozing off for the night in my hammock or on the drive there. This is the beauty of a watch as versatile and durable as the SKX: it will always perform how you want it to both when you're paying attention to it and when you aren't. As I have said many times, an SKX is the best $200 you can spend in watch collecting, period.
