The Omega Railmaster Co-Axial Master Chronometer

A train flies by as mine comes to a stop, I feel the power of its engines under my feet as the platform rumbles. It’s distinguishable roar echos in my ear, as well as in the air around me. But it’s load roar means nothing as it gracefully comes to a stop. It’s strong cold steel towers over me, showing off its wisdom and history that has come with age.

The train has been a form of transportation for years, you may use it every day to your work, but today it's a modern train, it’s faster, it's sleeker. It’s nothing like what your father used to ride, but still a train. It has changed with age and adapted to technology. It will continue to adapt, and so does Omega, changing and adapting with modern times but not without hinting at the ever important past, showing off its age and wisdom. Omega released the Railmaster Co-Axial Master Chronometer at the 2017 Baselworld alongside The 1957 Trilogy. Don’t expect to get a vintage feel like you would with the Trilogy Railmaster, nor the aura of the Moonwatch. This is a whole new breed, a sport watch perfect for every day that opens a window to the past. This can slip under the cuff but this is nothing fancy, but open up the hood and you’ll find a serious package. Don’t let the brushed steel, matte finished “crosshair” dial, fool you. Behind all that, there is a Caliber 8806 Master Chronometer movement that can resist magnetic fields up to 15 times strong than its predecessor.

This is a simple watch, no ceramic bezel, no unique compilations. With a 40mm diameter, Lyra lugs, flat bezel, large dial opening which makes it easy to read. You have a possibility to get it on a herringbone cloth strap, brushed bracelet, or leather nato. With a 150 water resistance, it’s the ultimate “entry level” Omega. But it’s not just a pretty package and bow, if you open this bad boy up and dive deeper you’ll find something even better. The Caliber 8806 Master Chronometer, is nothing to look twice at if you don’t care about true watchmaking. This is a feat in engineering, with a 15,000 Gauss automatic movement with co-axial escapement, single barrel with silicon parts, takes watchmaking to the next level. While the older Railmasters had the case be anti-magnetic, this time the movement itself is anti-magnetic.

So why should you buy this watch? if this is your first luxury watch, Omega is the ultimate brand, they have history and legacy. They don’t stay in the past yet they are leaders in the history of horology. They are always pushing the limits of horology and improving themselves. And if your an avid collector, I think this watch is a perfect everyday watch for your collection. The Omega Railmaster Co-Axial Master Chronometer is coming out the gates swinging at an incredible price point and having everything where it counts. I highly recommend you go read more about everything Omega is doing, and more about this watch.
