Yesterday, I did a live stream on Instagram to discuss all about quartz watches and the unfair notions that comes from buying and owning quartz watches. The truth is I have high regards for quartz watches and while the notion of cheap, and disposable can be negative it can also be a positive. Being able to pick up a well crafted beautiful piece, that are durable at an affordable price (such as Timex). While most watch collectors will avoid quartz like little kid avoiding eating vegetables, they forget the amount of different options out there for a “quartz” watch.
When you dive deeper into the realization of modern technology changing the way quartz movements run and look. A great example of this is the Bulova precisionist 262 khz movement, that offers extreme accuracy with the sweeping hands of an automatic watch. Durable, affordable, and a staple of horology.
Hopefully this small article got you thinking about quartz watches in a different light, while I wouldn’t drop $2,000 dollars or more for a quartz piece. But hopefully we can now look at and appreciate quartz movements. The ability of modern technology corporated into quartz watches creates amazing opportunities for the watch consumer. Giving the watch enthusiast the perfect grab and go piece, go take a look at quartz watches in this new light.
