My Experience with Analog Shift: Vintage Watchfam

When you think of buying a vintage watch, you would probably think of the big names on instagram such as Theo & Harris, Those Watch guys, Vintage Caliber, and of course, Analog Shift.

Being a 19 year old kid collecting vintage Timex's, the thought of me meeting with one of Analog Shift’s team members was daunting. I admired their constant hustle of content in terms of their photography, articles, and collaborations. Analog Shift seems to be on top of their vintage game.

When entering the office, it looked way bigger than how they portrayed it in their Instagram livestreams. It was super causal and cozy. Nick, one of the guys that I was introduced to was a pleasure to speak with and a down-to-earth guy. We just talked goals of the company, its long-term vision, and of course watches. He seemed genuine and curious about my story in the watch game. We shared our humble beginnings as watch geeks to one another.

To my surprise, tens of thousands of dollars were laid on the table, just like that. What shocked me the most was when Nick had to leave the office for a quick minute, leaving me alone with an extremely rare universal geneve triple calendar, a vintage speedmaster, and a bark 18k vintage daydate. For a second, I was confused. I didn't want to be alone or held responsible with these pieces! My backpack was previously opened because I showed them my watches. Nothing could have physically stopped me from “placing” their watches into my bag, I was nervous. I don't know about you, but when someone who barely knows you leaves you alone in a room full of valuable watches, you stay absolutely still...Either Nick trusted me there alone with their inventory to touch and admire or it was an honest mistake and he was in a hurry.

I would like to think its the first choice. If it is, then that really paints the picture for me about Analog Shift as a brand. Before meeting the guys, I didnt know what to expect about the company, but now, after an honest conversation about their operation in a casual setting, I found it deeply comforting that these guys are curating vintage watches  . Honesty, transparency, and trust are extremely important in this business and Analog Shift takes the cake on those attributes.

I would like to thank Nick for spending the time with me, patiently answering my questions about their company. As a watch geek, I appreciate what they are doing for the community and I can understand why they are on top of the vintage watch chain. I wouldn't recommend a better group of people to do the job.
